The Salisbury Fire Rescue Station is a building for current and future generations of the Town of Salisbury’s Department, replacing an outdated and undersized facility built in the 1970’s.
The Facility is a ~15,360 square foot net-zero ready building, constructed with an ICF building envelope, geo-thermal heating and cooling system, and infrastructure for future solar panels. The Facility also uses rainwater to fill a stormwater cistern, which then feeds a water cistern used for fire suppression. Combined, the cisterns provide over 8x the amount of on-site water than the current facility, a critical element in a community that is reliant on private wells for water supply.
The building includes, amongst other building features: four drive-thru bays, a multi-purpose room for public use without disturbing the operations of the Fire Department, dedicated space for bunker gear cleaning/drying, a flex office that permits Members of the Volunteer department to work remotely from the station to decrease day-time response time(s), a gym for Members, families, and Town Staff, and a second floor that will serve as space for both the Fire Department and community use, all the while ensuring space for future growth/needs.
